Sophia ist nun schon den 4. Monat in Portugal. Auch der November war ein intensiver und spannender Monat für unsere Jungunternehmerin…
In November I was continuing the work for the house of the private client in Porto. We had a meeting to present the update of the work we did during the last weeks and to also let the client know what will be the following steps of the project. We are designing the facade of the house which will be minimalistic and will integrate a green facade on the front and back. The work is quite diverse as it consists of diagrammatic drawings in 2d and 3d as well as collages to test materials and concepts. For the meeting, we also developed a physical model which helps to analyze the building in the context of the surrounding neighbourhood. It also helps to design the facade and volume of the building itself. A physical model is also important to the client to see because it is not always easy to understand and read architectural drawings as someone who doesn’t do it for a living. The project so far helps me to understand the Portuguese regulation system and the whole process of developing a new building. It is also nice to get Porto better and better. Today I went to the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art. It was designed by the famous Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza. It consists of the building itself and a park to walk around. The architecture in Porto is very diverse. New buildings relate to old houses and especially in the old historic city centre, a lot of abandoned buildings are getting renovated again. The upcoming weeks I will learn how to use Revit. It is a computer program made for architectural drawings in 2D and 3D. It is quite famous in almost every architecture office nowadays and therefore more and more important to know. I am looking forward to the upcoming weeks and to develop my housing project.
